Over the past century, 3M and the U of M have been proud partners in accelerating science as a solution to society’s biggest challenges. Recently, this partnership became even stronger as 3M committed $2 million to the U of M to accelerate research aimed at combating COVID-19. The gift, which was part of a significant financial commitment by 3M to entities tackling the virus on different fronts, will play a key role in accelerating research and clinical trials at the University of Minnesota. “Since the outbreak began, 3M has addressed the COVID-19 pandemic from all angles and across all stakeholders, and this includes supporting our community partners around the world,” said 3M chairman and CEO Mike Roman. “I am so grateful for the extraordinary support we received from our friends at 3M. We are fortunate to live in the great state of Minnesota, in a state where the corporate community is led by leadership corporations such as 3M,” said Jakub Tolar, M.D., Ph.D., dean of the Medical School, vice president for clinical affairs, and public health officer at the U of M.
