3M Corporate Alumni Chapter hosts U of M expert on workplace dynamics
December 12, 2017

An opportunity to learn more about workplace dynamics brought approximately 100 3M employees to a presentation by U of M professor John Kammeyer-Mueller on December 5. Hosted by the 3M Corporate Alumni chapter, which is comprised of alumni from the U of M’s Carlson School of Management, the event was held at 3M’s headquarters in St. Paul.

Kammeyer-Mueller talked about the impact of support and undermining behaviors of coworkers and supervisors, especially during the first 90 days of a new job. He also discussed emerging research on how the fit between newcomer and organizational values can enhance engagement and retention.

He is a faculty member in the Department of Work and Organizations at the Carlson School of Management, and teaches courses related to organizational behavior and human resources in the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs. Carlson School students honored him with a teaching excellence award in 2016.

The 3M Corporate Chapter hosts faculty speakers throughout the year. Events are open to all 3M employees.
