With support from 3M, the University of Minnesota’s College of Science and Engineering (CSE) hosted its third annual Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leadership Showcase on April 24, 2024.
The event, which featured keynote speaker Mohamed Sallam, president and CEO of Wallin Education Partners, recognized members of the CSE community for their contributions to creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment at the University and within CSE.
With 3M’s gift, 19 awards were given in support of graduate and undergraduate students, a student group, a postdoctoral researcher, faculty, and staff. The awards showcase highlighted their many contributions in the areas of student advocacy, volunteer work, and engagement that have had a positive impact on the college, the University, and Twin Cities communities.
Ben Koch, associate director of student engagement and DEI at CSE, shared: “As our largest contributor to the 2024 DEI Leadership Showcase, 3M was an impactful supporter of the DEI work being done within CSE. Formally recognizing community members for their work (often in unpaid roles) would not have been possible without their support.”
