3M Open Plaza promotes healing and fun
November 4, 2019

The newly named 3M Open Plaza at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital offers patients and families from Minnesota and around the world a gathering place that promotes health and wellbeing.

A $600,000 gift from the 3M Open golf tournament will support events and activities at the plaza such as live music, yoga, barbecues, ice cream socials, and other M Health Fairview UMMCH programming for patients and families. The plaza is located near the Thompson Healing Garden, SportsEngine Sport Court, and John A. Sullivan Playground.

M Health Fairview UMMCH was selected as a primary beneficiary of the 3M Open Fund and received a portion of the proceeds from the 2019 tournament.

“We are proud to partner with the 3M Open to provide patients and their families with beautiful spaces and memorable experiences as they heal in our hospital,” says Joseph Neglia, M.D., M.P.H., M Health Fairview UMMCH’s physician in chief. “We share the idea that there is a close relationship between sports and health, especially in kids, and these are the values behind the work carried out at our hospital on a daily basis.”
